3 out of 5 stars Great drive for netbook   September 4, 2010
This is a great little drive giving you the best bang for your buck. Unfortunately, it does suffer from stutter on faster rigs. They are ideal for netbooks, increasing speed significantly.

5 out of 5 stars A solid hard drive   August 10, 2010
I bought this drive after reading through the comments with some trepidation. I have a Lenovo X61s Thinkpad which I carry back and forth daily, using just standby and I am not the most gentle person. The active protection software that stops the hard drive in response to shocks works pretty well, but still I was beginning to worry a bit.
I spent a considerable amount of time trying to undo the screws that attach the mounting bracket to the hard-disk. The next most time-consuming task was figuring out how to boot from the USB-CD drive (since X61s does not have a built in CD drive). Once that was done, the actual copying of the drive took about 15-20 minutes (I have about 50GBytes of 'stuff' on the drive), so all in all it took less than half an hour and all works like before. The old drive is in the nice little external box and can now function as a stationary backup....
As somebody states in a low-rating review, it is somewhat disappointing. No stars flying, no cool new sound. Just faster performance and feeling safer when tossing my laptop into my bag. Well worth it at a price that in August 2010 is very competitive!

2 out of 5 stars not what I thought it would be.   July 26, 2010

I had much trouble transfering the data from my old drive. The Acronis software didn't work but I had my own copy and it worked.
I was veryt disappointed it's performance was not much better than my hard drive. It was a bad purchase. It workjs but not much improvement.

4 out of 5 stars SSD Up Coming Technology   July 20, 2010
This is my first experience with an SSD.I wanted to try this on my laptop with a smaller hard drive. These are still way too expensive for no moving mechanical parts. Memory is cheap and the technology for these cannot be that costly. However, the transfer of the operating system and data went flawlesly. The drive works very well. Have not noticed an appreciable change in battery life. My laptop is a Dell with NVIDIA card and a pentinum processor... a cooling fan is running often to keep those items cool. When the prices come down, I will put a 256G in my other laptop. I believe it will run cooler and longer on a battery charge.

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant upgrade   July 14, 2010
Upgrading a Lenovo Thinkpad (windows XP) with this kit produced an immediate, observable performance boost which I would casually estimate translated to most applications (office, etc.) running 20%-30% faster.

The included imaging software and external drive kit worked perfectly... seamlessly transferring my entire setup from the old sata drive to the new SSD in about two hours.

Incredible how easy and effective this was!
